However, thanks to the swift response of the Secret Service, the situation was promptly brought under control. After being guided into his vehicle, the president, accompanied by the first lady, was safely driven back to their Delaware residence. Joe’s sparse schedule remained unaffected by the incident.

Steve Kopek, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, addressed the incident, emphasizing that it was an unintended crash that took place during heavy rainfall in Wilmington. Kopek stated, “Today, at approximately 8:09 p.m., a Secret Service vehicle securing the President’s motorcade route was struck by another vehicle in Wilmington, DE.  There was no protective interest associated with this event, and the President’s motorcade departed without incident.”
