Newly-released video footage and 911 calls demonstrate the harrowing moments leading up to a Phoenix police officer firing shots at a sexual assault suspect as he tried to escape from the victim’s residence.
On the morning of February 13, a woman confronted an armed man outside her residence near 19th Avenue and Berridge Lane. The woman’s child witnessed the suspect grabbing her and quickly dialed 911.

“There’s a man holding her mouth,” the woman’s child urgently told the 911 dispatcher.
According to court records, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Edward Brown, allegedly forced the woman inside the residence and sexually assaulted her.

Police officers responded to the victim’s apartment and reportedly witnessed through a window Brown assaulting the woman.
Several clips of body-worn camera footage recorded officers firing several shots at the back of the residence before entering and pursuing the suspect, seen running away from the apartment. An officer is then captured on the footage firing several shots at the man trying to escape.
The gunfire subdued the suspect who was then taken to the hospital for treatment. The female victim was also given medical attention for her injuries.
A firearm believed to have been used by the suspect was later recovered from the backyard. At least two officers fired their weapons during the clash, and the event is now subject to an internal investigation.
Brown was later indicted for a range of felony charges that include burglary, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and sexual assault. If found guilty, he could face a lengthy prison sentence for his criminal actions. Thanks to quick and effective police intervention, the victim is receiving the support and justice she deserves.

Can someone explain the meaning of the headline “Face Plants after being shot” – English may be my “natural language” but I am at a loss as to what this phrase is intended to convey !
It means he planted his face into the ground.
Many Thanks “Oh Wow” – I must have led a more sheltered life than I thought π
Just to make sure, the cops shot both the victim and the victimizer.
