Green Bay, Wisconsin – In a recent announcement, Brown County District Attorney David Lasee revealed that no criminal charges will be filed against Green Bay Police Officer Dan Skenandore in connection with a deadly shooting incident that occurred on February 23rd.

The incident unfolded in the afternoon of February 23rd when the Green Bay Police Department received a report of a “disturbance” involving two vehicles and a weapon, as stated by Police Chief Chris Davis during the initial briefing.

One of the vehicles involved, driven by Steve Ventura, was eventually located on Green Ridge Drive near the 3100 block of Open Gate Trail. According to the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, Ventura exited his vehicle and brandished a handgun, pointing it in the direction of Officer Skenandore. In response, the two exchanged gunfire, as outlined in the report.

Ventura was discovered injured at the scene and given immediate life-saving measures. He was later transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Brown Country District Attorney’s office has confirmed that Ventura’s cause of death was an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” solidifying initial reports from the scene.
